Paralegal School - Administrative Assistant
MTI College also offers a traditional
two-year Associate's Degree for Paralegal positions and an online
Degree for Paralegals. The following is a one-year Diploma program
for Administrative Assistants.
This diploma program may be completed in approximately 36 weeks.
Paralegal Course Objective:
To qualify the student for employment in various office settings,
with an emphasis in law office-related work. MTI Paralegal School
Students will become proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office
Suite products.
Description:
Administrative Assistants prepare and process a variety of legal
documents, including complaints, motions, summonses and subpoenas.
In addition, their duties include composing and processing letters
and other correspondence, calendaring, transcribing recorded communication,
greeting clients, filing and bookkeeping.
Students
who successfully complete this program are eligible for advancement
to Year Two of the degree in Business
Administration with the addition of A100, Introduction to Accounting,
or the degree for Paralegal Studies.

Trends:
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities
will be plentiful for well qualified and experienced legal administrative
assistants. Several hundred thousand positions are generated each
year as experienced legal administrative assistants are promoted
to paralegal positions or leave the labor force. The trend for legal
administrative assistants to be given more responsibilities will
also increase the demand. Legal administrative assistants can be
useful to law firms and corporate legal departments.
