Technician Diploma Program
This accounting diploma program may be completed in approximately
36 weeks.
Accounting Course Objective:
To qualify the student for employment in entry-level bookkeeping/accounting
operations. Accounting Course students will gain knowledge
of computerized applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
Description:
Accounting and Bookkeeping Clerks calculate, classify and record
numerical data and maintain accurate financial records. Accounting
personnel might handle money, perform auditing duties, analyze various
financial statements, compile and prepare quarterly reports, and
maintain accounts payable and receivable.
Training
Requirements:
Accounting Technicians must be knowledgeable in areas including
accounts receivable and payable, payroll procedures and tax laws,
fixed assets, present value calculation for liabilities, cash-basis
bookkeeping, and year-end work. Accounting Clerks should have a
good business math aptitude; computer operations skills with an
emphasis on word processing, spreadsheets and computerized accounting;
keyboarding and 10-key skills; legible writing; and an ability to
work independently.
Students who successfully complete this accounting course
are eligible for advancement to Year Two of the A.A.S. Business
Administration Degree with the addition of M130A and M130B,
Mathematics Concepts, and GE200, English Composition. |

continue to be available due to the need for bookkeeping services
in most businesses.
